Fear the Wolves takes place, like
S.T.A.L.K.E.R., in the creepy radiation-blasted wasteland of Chernobyl. Deadly
anomalies constantly threaten your health, and mutated forms lurking in the
shadows.
With the massive success of PUBG
and the free-to-play battle royale mode in Fortnite it should come as no
surprise that developers are starting to hop on the bandwagon. The people who
brought us S.T.A.L.K.E.R., after they left the GSC Game World, they joined
together under a newly-founded studio called Vostok Games - from which they
launched Steam Early Access game Survarium, a shooter multiplayer game in 2015.
With Survarium still in development, Vostok Games presents its new game,
derived from the ever-increasing popularity of the Battle Royale genre, called
Fear the Wolves.
Focus Home and Vostok have been
working on the title for several months now but revealed it to the world during
the “Le What’s Next de Focus” event taking place in Paris right now. According
to the press release, fighting in the game will take place from the first
person view, on the map located in Chernobyl, where radiation is lurking at
every step. Each match will take up to 100 players, lonely or united in the
units. The classic Battle Royale mode forces you to remain the last survivor of
100 fighters. Another intense and original way of playing will also bring a
fiery new turn in the genre.
To ensure the point, players will
have to take account not only of surviving opponents. All players are under
constant threat of deadly anomalies, and constant dynamic changes in time.
Along with day and night changes, this keeps the survivors adjusting their
strategies, and players can find protective equipment that allows them to explore
dangerous zones beyond borders. All the time, you can hear screams of mutant
creatures that echo through the wasteland.
So far we do not know much about
the game, but Focus Home Interactive has said that developers will provide more
new informations this month. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games are very famous for their
fantastic atmosphere, so we hope that developers will also prepare something
similar to this game. We will see how the Fear the Wolves will fit into the
present state of battle royale games, although tthis game is already offering
something new on the basis of the first information.
Fear the Wolves is announced for
PCs and consoles, and this year it should be released in Early Access on PC.
The development of this game should not affect the development of Survarium, or
developer at least hopes.
